How did you get your start in the music industry?
I got started in music after the pandemic hit, and all my classes moved online. I ended up moving to Nashville, and it was a perfect opportunity to spend all my time writing and creating music.
How long have you been a songwriter?
I’ve been in love with music since I was five years old, and I wrote my first song when I was 8, but they weren’t very good until hit my twenties.
What made you want to become a professional songwriter?
Songwriting is an outlet for me. I used to spend hours every day playing covers on the piano, but it wasn’t until I started writing my own music that I felt complete. I was writing the songs I wanted to sing. From there, becoming a professional songwriter just made sense.
What is your favorite music genre to write?
I think my favorite music genre to write is best described as pop with an indie folk vibe. But I also think it’s fun to step out of that circle and write for different sounds and genres too.
Where do you find your musical inspiration?
I grew up listening to Queen, Elton John, David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, The Beatles, and Billie Joel, so all of their sounds influence mine. I’m also a big fan of Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift.
What’s your favorite part of songwriting collaborations?
There’s something special that happens when songwriters collaborate. I love how the energy and creativity flow as you feed off each other’s ideas. The end result has a piece of you but is completely different than anything you would have written on your own.
Where do you find inspiration for your songwriting?
Like most American songwriters, most of my songwriting inspiration comes from living life. Sometimes, inspiration strikes when I’m listening to music, reading a book, watching a movie, or hanging out with friends. I feel inspired when something invokes feelings.
